...but I wouldn't be surprised if you (whoever might read this) thought I had.
Our family has been up to a lot in these past few months. A few of the main points:
1. Buying and moving into our first house (and all the little details involved in that).
2. Our daughter's first birthday party! We had a fairly large party at our house. It was fun, but a little stressful.
3. Our daughter was baptised earlier this month. It was a smaller affair than her birthday, but still required a fair bit of preparation and planning.
4. We got a new computer! Way overdue.
I've had a fun time decorating our new home and making it our own. I have made a few things for the house, but for the most part crafting has fallen by the wayside as the challenges inherent in home owndership crop up. Most of the items I've finished (there are several in various stages of completion) are for Lily's room. Here are a few of my favorites:
A curtain valance that I made for Lily's window. It was a bit of a challenge, even though I consider curtains an easy sew for the most part. For one, I only had a yard of the fabric I wanted to use (Heather Ross' Frog Prince), and it had been cut unevenly from the bolt, so I lost a lot of the pattern that way. Due to that I had to use curtain clip rings instead of sewing a pocket for the curtain rod, as I usually do. It didn't turn out so bad, but I do need to spraypaint the clips white to match the rod at some point. It does look very pretty in her peachy-pink-painted room! And of course the spiral window crystal from Nova Natural makes the window even more charming!
Also from Nova:
I made this sylph mobile from a kit from Nova, but I can't find it on the site anymore. Almost anyone could make one using some dyed and undyed wool, some thread, and an embroidery hoop. It took a while to create but was actually pretty simple. This hangs in a corner of Lily's bedroom.
I hope to get back to posting more often! I find that posting about my crafting motivates me to get more of it done.
I do have a few posts in the works, hopefully for this week!
Hope to be back in this space soon!
